DC512 October Meetup - Halloween Edition!

October meetup for DEF CON 512: Wednesday, October 2nd, 6:30pm-10pm @ Independence Brewing

Details:

-It's our October meetup and you know what that means, it's Halloween costume contest time! Wear your best costume for the chance to win a coveted Golden Pumpkin. (Costumes are optional of course but it would be cooler if you wore one).

-Attendees are welcome to present a firetalk (5-10 minutes) on a topic of their choosing. Sign-ups will be available prior to the firetalks portion of the meetup, see the organizers up by the podium to sign up. If you signed up for a talk at the last meetup and we weren't able to get to you, you will have priority this meetup.

NOTE: Giving a talk is optional and not a requirement. Please do not film any presentations without explicit consent from the speaker.

-There is an AV setup with HDMI (bring your own adapter) if you have slides for your talk.

-Little Hacker Library: Got some books you're looking to get rid of? Bring them and swap with other members of DEF CON 512. It’s our take on the “Little Library” concept.

-Lockpicking: There will be a small variety of locks and picks to play with at the meetup, please return them at the end of the meetup.

-Event Schedule:

Social: 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM
Firetalks: 7:30 PM - 8:30 PM
Social: 8:30PM - 10 PM

Housekeeping:

-DEF CON 512 meets on the first Wednesday of every month.

-If it's your first time don't feel obligated to give a talk. However, it's a great way to connect with people and helps us get a better feel for your interests. If speaking isn't your thing, it's perfectly alright to just hang out, meet new folks and drink some great beer.

-Independence Brewing has agreed to host us on a monthly basis AND they are staying open just for us. They usually close at 7:00PM-- but we can stay as late as 10:00PM for DEF CON 512.

-WE AREN'T PAYING THE VENUE! They are sponsoring us, so please pay them back with kindness and be generous with your tips.
