What we’re about
Our group is for those wanting to learn and dance West Coast Swing (WCS), one of the hottest dances on the planet. Join with us at our weekly group classes and social dance party every Tuesday and our 3rd Saturday monthly social dance party! WCS is a modern American made swing dance danced to a wide variety of music: contemporary, funk, blues and more. Although it is a partner dance, you don’t need a partner to learn or enjoy dancing this dance. Come solo, bring a friend or two – just come. Our group is friendly, diverse and fun and we dance with everyone and we love beginners.

Our classes, dances and events have provided an open-role dancing community since we began and so regardless of which role you prefer, you are welcome here! We host the longest running weekly and monthly dancing events in the larger Philly area.
We also host two 3 day weekend WCS dance events currently held at the Double Tree Hilton in Wilmington, DE, one in September and one in January of each year. These events are filled with workshops, social dancing, Pro teachers, Champion dancers great music & DJs, competitions. demos and more with dancers from all around the globe joining our local dancers for a super fun Westie weekend..

WHEN:: 1/6, 1/13, 1/20 & 1/27
7:15 pm Warm Up & Practice
7:30 pm Intermediate lesson for more experienced dancers. These are drop in classes. Learn good dance skills to improve your dancing, moves for your repertoire and technique to make your dancing better. Must know your 6 & 8 count basics here.
TIME FOR BEGINNERS: : 8:05 pm. In this series you’ll learn the 6 and 8 count basic patterns you need to get off to a good start with WCS. These include our 6 count patterns: Push break/sugar push, left side pass, right side pass/underarm turn; and the basic release whip, our 8 count pattern. We’ll also focus on anchor steps, connection, compression and stretch techniques, rhythm and more. We’ll have you on the dance floor in no time enjoying social dancing and making new friends. We encourage you to stay and dance a few songs and meet some of the local dancers. You are also welcome to come 10 minutes or so and watch the Intermediate lesson which happens prior to the Beginners lesson.
8:35 - 10:35 pm Social Dance Party with DJ Sheila and Rob and the local Westies. Time to get to jammin' and socializing. This is what it's all about.
WHERE: Universal Ballroom Studio, 41 E. Crescent Blvd, Rt 130, Collingswood, NJ. Free parking in studio parking lot.
