Clayton Park Burn Off Those Thanksgiving Calories Hike (Difficult)
Details
This 4 3/4 mile hike will Start an End at the Clayton Park Entrance on Emley's Hill Rd. It's pictured in the feature photo. There are two porta pots in the parking area where we'll start. It's a vigorous winding trail through hilly terrain with multiple elevation changes. Expect a good workout. The trail is mostly firm ground about 3 feet wide with tree roots scattered along the way. The hills aren't very steep, but are long inclines. We'll break out of the woods at various points an traverse along open field tree lines, go over some small wooden bridges and hike next to a winding stream. We'll leave an inspirational painted rock on the trail for others to find (My Trademark). I highly recommend Good hiking boots, and water. You can dehydrate even in winter. A hiking stick comes in handy too. It's all worth while due to the natural beauty of this park. The hills and ravines offer some great views worthy of a few pictures. We will break frequently to rest and enjoy our surroundings. I've included pictures to give you a feel for the trail. Hope you can make it. Paul # 609-540-2513.
