Picnic Lunch and Wildlife Walkaround at Upper Schuylkill Valley Park
Details
Let's check out the Upper Schuylkill Valley Park's Wild Life Center. The center features grey wolves, foxes, raptors and many other wild and domestic animals.
We'll start off with a vegan picnic where we can get to know each other and chat about wildlife, the outdoors and all things vegan. Bring your own vegan food and drink.
At 1 pm we'll join the park's guided tour of their animal center, which is mostly on paved paths. The animals are varied (wolves, foxes, and include rehabilitated and unreleasable wild life, breeding conservation species and what I believe are rescued farm animals. I've visited before and it feels closer to an educational sanctuary than a regular zoo. Let's be curious animal lovers and discover how the wildlife center is contributing to these animals' lives.
After the tour, if there's interest we can walk the path along the Schuylkill River to spot wildlife and enjoy the outdoors further.
I've pre-registered for our group to attend, so please only sign up if you can definitely make it.
Here's a description of the tour:
Join Park Staff on an hour-long, guided tour to learn about our resident animals. Visitors will hear interesting facts about each animal and how they came to live at the Park. All ages. Pre-registration is required. Weather permitting. Participants should be prepared for sloped/uneven terrain and areas with no shade. Meet in front of the donkeys. Suggested donation of $2 per person.
