One Day. Countless Millennia. One Living Landscape.
A self-drive journey into India’s deepest past.

Some journeys aren’t measured in kilometres, but in time. This one gently draws you into the long civilizational continuum that shaped the subcontinent—taking you back to a moment before epics were composed, before empires rose and fell, to a time when the idea of urban life itself was still being imagined.

Join the storytellers and historians of DelhiByFoot × TheBrownTicket, in collaboration with the Department of Archaeology & Museums, Haryana Government, for a one-day self-drive heritage exploration to Rakhigarhi—a place where India’s story begins far earlier than memory, myth, or written history.

Rakhigarhi is not a site you simply visit—it is a place you slowly sink into. Believed to be the largest settlement of the Indus Valley Civilisation, larger than Mohenjodaro or Lothal combined and still under excavation, it offers a rare chance to encounter history in the making.

Here, the past does not sit behind glass, like in a museum. It lies quietly beneath your feet. As you walk across active archaeological mounds, you begin to sense the presence of lives once fully lived; streets carefully planned over 5,000 years ago; fragments of terracotta and clay beads that once belonged to ordinary people; and a silence so heavy it feels like the land itself is remembering.

This is not a ruin frozen in time, but a living archive. Standing here, it becomes impossible not to feel humbled - aware that you are walking through one of humanity’s earliest cities, at the very threshold of the subcontinent’s long and layered story.

What makes this journey special

  • One immersive day that allows for a slow, thoughtful engagement with the site
  • A self-drive format that keeps the experience personal, flexible, and unhurried
  • Expert-led storytelling that weaves archaeology, anthropology, and imagination
  • Context that goes beyond textbooks, helping you see ruins as lived spaces

If you’ve ever wanted to understand India not merely through dates or dynasties, but through the deeper idea of civilization itself, this journey invites you to do just that.

Come walk where India first learned to dream.
