Located in the heart of Delhi the Partition Museum reflects the city’s own deep entanglement with the events of 1947 when it became a center for countless refugees arriving from across the newly drawn border. It stands today as both a memorial and a living archive honoring the millions of men women and children who lost their homes—and often their lives—virtually overnight.

This walk takes visitors through the museum’s six evocative galleries which trace a chronological and emotional journey. Beginning with the early 1900s and the rising resistance to British colonial rule the narrative builds toward the fateful moment of independence and Partition. Along the way visitors will encounter oral histories personal belongings evocative photographs and everyday objects that bring to life the heartbreak chaos and upheaval of that time.
