Monsoon in the Chaarbagh: A Heavenly Match of Gardens & Tomb

As summer gives way to monsoons, it's time to be out again with DelhiByFoot's annual Monsoon Masarrat Walks!

The monuments and ruins in our city are fresh, washed clean of months of grime and dust, glowing amidst green surroundings....while the city's avian friends add music to the cool monsoony breeze.
And what better place to enjoy all this than the medieval-era Garden Tomb of Safdarjung!

When the rulers of yore died they wanted to be buried in gardens that reflected the beauty of paradise. With this aim, grand tombs with beautiful landscapes were created: lush gardens interwoven with glassy streams creating an ambience of peace and tranquility. The result is captivating historical wonders, and seen at the sunset hour, and then lit-up, you will re-discover this gem, literally in a "new light"!

As monsoon clouds gather, the air also fills with the Koel's & Bulbul's songs and the hush of a cloudy twilight....aaah rains...the season of longing and reunion! Rain-washed gardens became lovers’ confidantes, leaves whispering promises, fountains reflecting the distance between lovelorn beloveds!

We invite you to **experience one of Delhi’s most popular garden tombs, Safdarjung Tomb under the golden glow of the setting sun and as they begin to light up in the night…not just for History Lessons, beautifully interspersed with the poetry of the rains....**a leisurely evening stroll amongst the greens listening to our tales, some verses of love and feel also the "out-of-this-world spooky" feeling which envelopes the calming environs as the skies darken...when giant trees & monuments take on a different colour & life of their own!!
