Chanderi a hidden gem in Central India is a quaint little town where time seems to stand still since the 19th century. Stone houses merge seamlessly with fort walls and palace courtyards. The high spires of temples and many beautiful Baolis play hide and seek throughout the town and everywhere you walk you hear the clickety-clack of handlooms weaving the finest ‘Chanderi’ silk and cotton. There is always a blur of activity in the bazaars and as the sun sets over the majestic Chanderi Fort the town comes alive with mesmerizing folk songs echoing from the low hillocks of the Malwa Plateau. Yet there seems to be a strange stillness in the air bordering on the eerie!
