Hi everyone — and welcome to Democracy on Tap.

Over a glass of wine, a beer, or your favorite mocktail, we’re creating space tonight for reflection and connection.

We’re living in a period where many of us feel overwhelmed, disoriented, or even hopeless about the state of our country. This isn’t a lecture. It’s not a strategy session. It’s a space to contemplate, speak honestly, and listen deeply. In times like these, the simple act of gathering—of talking truthfully with others—is a quiet but powerful affirmation.

Tonight, we’ll be using a few guiding questions—prompts like:
* What brought you to this moment?
* What tools, rituals, or practices help you stay grounded, hopeful, or clearheaded?
* What do you see as the turning point/s that led to this time?
* Are we in the midst of a seismic shift—or something that might pass?

(See this New York Times opinion piece by David French that to me is a portent of the future; beyond 2028 -- https://www.nytimes.com/2025/06/15/opinion/trump-immigration-democrats.html
I'm happy to email this to anybody who doesn't subscribe to the NYT)

You don’t need to have the “right” answers. Just bring your lived experience -- that's enough.
