Fed up with dating apps and speed dating sounds forced and awkward?
Time to try an UpDate evening! Think of the best bar you’ve ever been to where you have no choice but to have fun and meet new people. We set the scene for deep conversation, playful interactions, and seeing others from many different sides! We do this with:
• Stupid little games
• Questions that make you think
• Crazy hosts
We came up with this idea because everybody is on dating apps, but nobody really likes it. At the same time, standard speed dating can feel boring and forced. And how many new people do you really meet when you just work, sport, and see your friends?
Our idea is that you have a great night out anyway, whether you match with someone or not. This is more natural, feels more relaxed, and you get to see people from many different angles. If you want to get nerdy with us, there is a lot of science suggesting that this is the best way to make new connections!

Just like on a perfect night out, UpDates are filled with surprises, and it is hard to guess what is coming next. One moment, you are playing a one-on-one game, and the next moment, you walk freely through the room to do a group activity. Sometimes we provide you with the structure to interact (which is lacking when you just go to a bar), and sometimes you walk through the room and choose who you want to engage with.
You’ll be playing the games with socializers of the opposite gender, which brings us to the grand metagame that’s going on at the same time. While you adventure through your night, you’re also in the game of obtaining new fans!
This is how it works:
At the beginning of the evening, you register yourself with your phone by scanning our QR code. At the end of the evening, you will see a list of all participants of the opposite gender. You tick off the boxes of the people you'd like to see again. If they are a fan of you as well, you will receive an email with their contacts the next morning :)
