Meet in the Audubon Center parking lot at 11280 Waterton Canyon, Littleton, CO 80127. This is about ¼ mile before the main parking lot for Waterton Canyon.
This route takes us along a gravel road that follows the South Platte River. We will take the gravel road, ending at the Bighorn Picnic Area beneath the Strontia Springs Dam. There are many opportunities to spot wildlife on the surrounding cliffs, especially the big horn sheep herd. Dogs are not allowed in this area in order to protect the bighorn sheep. If the trail up to Lenny’s Bench is not muddy or snowy those who want to can do that additional mile and climb. Meet Steve Farley in the Audubon Center parking lot. Bring a chair and snacks for post-ride get together.
