DEEP DIVE: David Lynch’s A Woman in Trouble (Watch at home, discuss in person)

Details
I wanted to explore some of the prime works of David Lynch, one of the greatest living directors and one of the most unique and influential voices in cinema. Particularly I wanted to look at films of his work a recurring theme of “A Woman in Trouble” starting with Blue Velvet and ending with Inland Empire.
David Lynch once told Isabella Rossellini that once when he was a little boy, he and his brother were walking home. On the way, they encountered a naked lady walking towards them strangely, with a bloodied mouth then she broke down crying. Instead of being titillated by her, they felt enormous sadness and started to cry because they sensed that something frightening and violent had happened.
You can tell this imagery had a lasting impact on a lot of his major works and I wanted to explore these worlds that he’s presented to us through these films because I think there are a lot to discuss.
Hope you can join!
This is a “watch at home, discuss in-person” event!
We will meet to discuss our thoughts on Thursday, February 6th, at Odell’s Brewery Sloans Lake. 6 - 8 pm. I’ll confirm the location and date as we get closer to the proposed time cuz Denver weather can be a tricky pickle.
Please try to watch all four films before attending – but if you can only watch one or two, you are still welcome. I also added a bonus film to seek out if you have time! Please contact me if you need help finding these films!
