Details

This is a free screening of Baz Luhrmann’s post-modern adaptation for Denver Film members, which somehow I never saw. You need to reserve your ticket on the Sie Theater/Denver film website ahead of time. I have not been to this theater so I do not know what the seating is like, but it seems to be open seating so I plan to get there a bit early to put a sweater on a seat while I wait for everyone else. I don’t know if you are not a member of Denver film if you can go to this event because I wasn’t directed to a place to pay since I am a member. Here is the blurb from Denver Film:

Baz Luhrmann helped adapt this classic Shakespearean romantic tragedy for the screen, updating the setting to a post-modern city named Verona Beach. In this version, the Capulets and the Montagues are two rival gangs. Juliet (Claire Danes) is attending a costume ball thrown by her parents. Her father Fulgencio Capulet (Paul Sorvino) has arranged her marriage to the boorish Paris (Paul Rudd) as part of a strategic investment plan. Romeo (Leonardo DiCaprio) attends the masked ball and he and Juliet fall in love.

I believe parking can be tricky in this popular part of town so please arrive early; I believe street parking is free on Sundays. If enough attendees would like to grab something to eat or drink afterwards, I will scout a place in the neighborhood.
