For this deep dive for the month of May, we're focusing on the moms (I wonder why...)--chosen moms, obligatory moms, and everyone in between who's certainly has had an impact in our lives but also with whom we have complicated relationships.

There were at least 5 other films in contention but I think I pared it down to these 3 special films.

Films:

  • Autumn Sonata (Ingmar Bergman, 1978)
Synopsis: A devoted wife is visited by her mother, a successful concert pianist who had little time for her when she was young.
Stream: HBO Max, FREE on Youtube
  • Still Walking (歩いても 歩いても) (Hirokazu Kore-eda, 2008)
Synopsis: A family gathers together for a commemorative ritual whose nature only gradually becomes clear.
    Stream: AMC+, FREE on Youtube
  • Mommy (Xavier Dolan, 2014)
Synopsis: A widowed single mother, raising her violent son alone, finds new hope when a mysterious neighbor inserts herself into their household.
Stream: Amazon, Apple TV, FREE on DailyMotion

Please watch all the films! If you can only catch 2 or so, you're still welcome to join the discussion. See you then!
