Summer of Jeanne Moreau - The Train
Details
Some of you may have enjoyed 2025's series The Summer of Burt Lancaster, which was a "watch-and-discuss" series in which we watched Lancaster films and discussed them on Letterboxd. I enjoyed it very much but thought an in-person component would be more enjoyable for this summer's edition, in which we celebrate the iconic Jeanne Moreau.
Moreau is best known as the face of the French New Wave, but she redefined the image of independent, intelligent women on screen and collaborated with cinema's greatest including Michelangelo Antonioni, Luis Buñuel, and Orson Welles (who called her "the greatest actress in the world"). We'll dig into Moreau's filmography one film at a time over the summer, meeting about every other week. Each event stands alone, no obligation to attend the whole series!
The Train: I couldn't resist the opportunity to bridge the summer of Burt to the summer of Jeanne. You can rent The Train on Fandango and other sites (probably also the Library!) Watch it on your own and join us on Monday, June 1 to discuss. Our chat will be free-form and informal and we'll have plenty of time for socializing and other movie talk. Join the Summer of Jeanne Moreau Club!
Edgewater Public Market has many food and drink options. We'll meet on the patio outside, weather dependent. Grab a bite and a drink and look for the DCC signage on our table.
