Best Little Whorehouse in Texas (1982) at the Sie

As a fitting tribute to Queen Dolly, the Sie has programmed my favorite Dolly Parton film project. It's delightful and charming and features the first film appearance of Dolly's iconic I Will Always Love You (bring tissues).

Adapted from the 1970s Tony-winning musical and based on the true story of a brothel in Texas threatened by TV exposure and meddling holy rollers, the film musical features Dolly Parton, Burt Reynolds, Charles Durning, and Dom DeLuise.

As noted in the top Letterboxd review of the film, "Dolly made that whorehouse into a whorehome".

Join us! I'll be in the lobby (wearing a black and blue DCC hoodie) starting at about 6:40, so come by and say hi. After the film we'll gather and head to Bruz for chit-chat. They have beer, wine, sodas, and snacks. Red nail polish optional but I think you know what Dolly would want.
