Details

May's study will be conducted by Bro. Isaac Levy as he asks the question, "What are the two paths of the Initiate?"

Synopsis:
This month's presentation is based on Narcissus and Goldmund by Herman Hesse*. Set during the 14th century, it is the story of two friends who are polar opposites and yet are able to have respect and affinity for one another. Spirit and matter, discipline and worldly indulgence, what are the paths of the Initiate and which offers a deeper understanding of reality? We will explore if man must learn by trial and error or if our gift of reason and intellect is enough to discover the meaning of life for ourselves. Does Freemasonry favor one path over the other?
*You do not have to read the book to attend and participate in the discussion.
