January's topic will be conducted by Bro. Katie Cumsille as he asks the question, "How does one who is lost find the way back to the Light?"

Synopsis:
This presentation explores The Divine Comedy as a living map of the human soul, one that speaks directly to Masonic symbolism and purpose. Dante’s journey from the Dark Wood through Hell, Purgatory, and ultimately Paradise reflects the universal experience of losing one’s way, confronting inner vices, and discovering that ascent is impossible through will or reason alone. The three beasts that bar Dante’s path echo the Masonic understanding that the rough ashlar cannot perfect itself without guidance, while Virgil’s role as guide illustrates the power and limits of human reason and moral discipline. As Dante ascends through purification toward light and order, his path mirrors the Masonic journey from darkness to light, grounded in virtue, harmony, and moral architecture. Rather than focusing solely on Hell, the presentation asks a deeper question shared by both Dante and Freemasonry: why we fall, why we cannot rise alone, and how true transformation becomes possible through guidance, fraternity, and alignment with a higher moral order.

Mission Statement:
The Masonic Philosophical Society embraces the concept of learning, not for school, but for life, and believes that all men, who seek it, deserve access to continued education. We further embrace the concept of a community environment where ideas can be shared and debated in an open forum. From the seven liberal arts to the arcane, we seek to gain and share the knowledge that is the legacy of mankind.
