Masterclass: How to be a D&D 5E Game Master

Details
This is NOT a D&D game.
This class is scheduled so that you can stick around for the Saturday night 7-10pm game if you wish, but please RSVP for both if you plan to do so.
It's a hands-on class with group discussions and written exercises. I've got a lesson outline and everything!
Where: This event will be hosted at the LDS Church Building at 1939 E. Easter Ave. in Centennial, CO 80122 in a big room on the north side of the building. If you enter the building from the north side (the door with steps leading up to it), it should be just down the hall past a few closed doors and on your left.
A very inclusive group: While the event is at a church building, it's still NOT a religious group. There will be no religious pressuring. We're a very inclusive group of people built on Meetup and focused on "having fun playing D&D". Most attendees, historically, are not LDS church members. Please come play with us!
Venue Rules: Similar rules to when we host games at the public library:
- Please be respectful of the building
- Please help us clean up trash/chairs/tables at the end of the event.
- Please do not bring Alcohol/Tobacco/etc into the building.
- Snacks are OK (and NOT required).
- It's our "privilege" (Not a "right") to use the building as a venue.
This class is intended for players that already know a bit about D&D 5e and would like to learn how to plan, host, and run their own games as a dungeon master.
No need to bring anything. Attendees will be provided with a printed lesson packet including:
- A syllabus you can take notes on
- Several templates for creating D&D monsters, NPCs, quests, and more
If you'd like a digital copy of the syllabus, I've shared the word doc on my google drive here (<-- it's a hyperlink).
Couldn't I get all this from just reading the dungeon masters guide? Yes, but attendees will also get the benefit of my anecdotal commentary based off my experience of running well over 100 games per year for multiple years now... and some people just prefer a classroom experience over the book.
About the Host: I’m DM David. Stylistically, I like story telling. I often give players "dares" or "challenges" for the night to encourage them to go beyond the game mechanics and improve their role playing. I like to teach and to grow community. I'm also a big supporter of 3rd party TTRPG publishers #OpenDnD. Most content I run is either homebrew, 100% improv, or something from a Kickstarter.
