Meet at the Lazy V parking lot.
Route (Approx. 12 Miles, ~1,400-1,500 ft elevation)
*Start from the Lazy V parking lot and take the connector to the main Staunton Ranch Trail, heading north. This is a steady, gentle warmup.
- Marmot Passage Trail (Lower segment): From Staunton Ranch Trail, connect towards the center of the park via the lower part of Marmot Passage.
*From Marmot Passage, take West Meadow Trail.
West Meadow Trail: A great, fun, and fast singletrack that brings you to Lion's Back Connector Road. - Take Lions Back Connector to Bugling Elk Trail back to Staunton Ranch Trail.
*Connect from Staunton Ranch Trail to Borderline Trail - From Borderline, connect to Mason Creek Trail: It is a popular, scenic blue-rated singletrack.
*Optional - Bear Paw Trail: This segment offers great views and a fun mix of wooded and technical riding. It branches off from Mason Creek Trail, then rejoins it. It's a tougher and more technical option than just staying on Mason Creek. - From the bottom of Mason Creek, take Staunton Ranch Trail back to the Lazy V Parking lot.
Key Tips for this Route
*Best Views: The route passes through the area with views of Elk Falls and the Chimney Rock formation.
- Direction: Doing the Mason Creek/Bear Paw loop clockwise is highly recommended for the best descent.
*Difficulty: The Mason Creek and Marmot Passage sections are moderately technical, while Staunton Ranch is a faster, smoother, wider trail. - https://www.trailforks.com/region/staunton-state-park-15820/
