• Why it's great: You start at Elephant Hill and ascend via beautiful stone steps onto slickrock benches. You will wind between massive boulders and pass through a dramatic, cool slot canyon. The trail ends at a high mountain pass that breaks out into a staggering, panoramic view of the desert grasslands bordered by hundreds of colorful sandstone spires.
