Deelishious backpack honoring Colorado's greatest cannibal

Details
Hey adventure lovers,
On this one we'll walk in the footsteps of Colorado's most famous cannibal. Remember what the judge said when he scolded Mr. Packer back in t he day: "There's two dimmycrats in all of Hinsdale County, and you et two of 'em!"
Stay calm on this trip and we'll get through it just fine. We'll backpack no more than 10 miles and 1,500 feet each day, enjoy the best of the Powderhorn Wilderness (including the largest stretch of alpine tundra in the lower 48), enjoy campfires and vibrant night-skies every night, and then celebrate our survival and restrained meat-eating by renting a fancy mansion in Lake City and enjoying the town.
ITINERARY:
Thursday 8/7: Leave Denver whenever and drive 6 hours to the Deer Lake campground.
Friday 8/8: Backpack seven miles and 1,500 feet to ... omg....Devil's Lake. Don't worry! We'll be fine!
Saturday 8/9: Leave backpacks and tents at the campsite, and hike 3 miles and 600 feet to Cannibal Peak (my name for it) at 12,644 feet, overlooking the Powderhorn Lakes, lunch and return to camp.
Sunday 8/10: Hike out 10 miles and down 1,500 feet (net) back to the cars, head into town for showers and a tasty resto meal (control yourself!).
Monday 8/11: Drive home, happy campers one and all.
I hope you can join in this delicious adventure. (Stop worrying !).
