🌄 Hike Mount Bierstadt with Zhen! (Easy 14er Adventure)

Hey everyone! Ready for an epic day on one of Colorado’s most beautiful and beginner-friendly 14ers? Join Zhen as we hike Mount Bierstadt (14,065 ft) this Saturday, July 11!

This is the perfect hike for first-time 14er seekers, experienced hikers, and anyone who loves jaw-dropping views, wildflowers, and maybe spotting some mountain goats along the way. The standard West Slope route is straightforward with a fun Class 2 rocky scramble near the top — and the views of the Sawtooth ridge are absolutely worth it!

I'll be your guide as I've done all 58 14ers.

### Event Details

• Date: Saturday, July 11, 2026
• Meeting Time: 4:15 AM at the Home Depot in Morrison for carpooling
• (I'll have a white 2022 tesla model 3 for carpooling)
• Hike Start: ~5:30 AM Roughly
• Trailhead (Bierstadt Trailhead at Guanella Pass)
• Guanella Pass Rd, Idaho Springs, CO 80452
• Expected Finish: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM (back at the cars)
• Distance / Elevation: ~7.2 miles round-trip, ~2,400–2,900 ft gain
• Difficulty: Moderate (great for fit beginners!)

Current Trail Conditions (as of early July):

• Mostly dry summer trail with some patchy snow higher up (mostly avoidable).
• Possible mud in the willow sections — bring good boots!

Weather Outlook: Sunny, breezy, summit highs around 50–55°F. We’ll summit early and head down before any afternoon storms roll in.

### What to Bring

• 3+ liters of water
• Snacks / lunch / coffee
• Layers (it can be chilly and windy at the top!)
• Sturdy hiking boots, trekking poles, rain jacket
• Sunscreen, hat, sunglasses
• Headlamp (just in case), first aid kit

• Dogs are welcome but the upper scramble can be tough for them.
• Leave No Trace — let’s keep this mountain beautiful.
