🏄🍂♨️ Lake Granby Fall Paddle & Hot Springs Soak
As summer winds down and before winter sets in, let’s enjoy a paddle on Lake Granby, take in the fall foliage around the lake, and finish the day with a relaxing soak at Hot Sulphur Springs Resort & Spa!
Join us on Saturday, October 3, 2026, for a full-day mountain adventure with paddling, beautiful scenery, and time to connect with new friends. SUPs, kayaks, and canoes are welcome!
🚗 Carpooling From Denver
We’ll meet at Mammoth at 10:00 AM, organize our carpools, and head to Lake Granby.
Meeting address: 18560 US-40, Golden, CO 80401
Please comment if you can drive or need a ride. Make sure your carpool group agrees on staying for the hot springs afterward.
If you’re driving directly to Lake Granby, we’ll post the exact launch location, parking pin, and estimated arrival time closer to the event.
📅 Tentative Schedule

  • 10:00 AM: Meet at Mammoth for carpooling.
  • Around noon–12:30 PM: Arrive at Lake Granby, unload, and prepare to launch.
  • Early afternoon: Enjoy approximately 2–3 hours of paddling, depending on conditions.
  • After paddling: Pack up and have a late lunch or snacks.
  • Late afternoon: Head to Hot Sulphur Springs Resort & Spa for an optional soak before returning to Denver.

Timing is approximate and subject to traffic, weather, and lake conditions.
🏄 The Paddle
We’ll explore a section of Lake Granby at a social pace, enjoying mountain views, looking for fall colors along the shoreline, and stopping for photos. Our route and distance will depend on the wind, water conditions, and the group’s abilities.
Please bring your own paddling equipment and wear a properly fitted PFD while on the water.
🧦 Cold-Water Clothing & Footwear
The water can be cold in October, even when the air feels warm. Please dress for possible immersion with appropriate cold-water paddling clothing, such as a wetsuit or drysuit suited to the conditions.
Insulated waterproof socks, such as NRS Boundary Socks, are encouraged to help keep your feet warm when launching and landing. Wear them with suitable paddling footwear. They provide additional foot protection but do not replace appropriate cold-water clothing.
Bring warm layers and a complete change of dry clothes for afterward.
🥪 Lunch & Snacks
Bring snacks and plenty of water. Since we’ll arrive around lunchtime, eat beforehand or have something to eat before launching. We’ll also take time for food after paddling before heading to the hot springs.
♨️ Hot Sulphur Springs Resort & Spa
After paddling at the lake, we’ll relax in the warm mineral pools at Hot Sulphur Springs Resort & Spa.

  • Address: 5609 Spring Road, Hot Sulphur Springs, CO 80451
  • Current Saturday adult admission: $35 per person, subject to change
  • Reservations: Public pools are walk-in only.
