What we’re about

The London Depression and Associated Problems (LDAP) Meetup is a supportive and caring group of peers living with mental health condition/s (formally diagnosed or undiagnosed) who wish to thrive and live well with dignity. We recognise the extent to which mental health condition/s can affect every aspect of one's ability to have and maintain a good quality of life. Furthermore, being confronted with feelings of overwhelm, stigma (self-imposed or external), isolation, grief, shame, anxiety, trauma, stress and loneliness - all the time or at intervals - can be very challenging to manage. LDAP peers have lived experience, and we care and understand. You will find support, friendship, information, and various modalities to manage, shift, change, heal, and live well.

LDAP is guided by the principles of the Mental Health Continuum, the Social Model of Disability, natural and holistic practices and the 5 Steps to Mental Wellbeing in our offering of a variety of opportunities for members to connect, share and support each other. Although we do not explicitly ask about members' mental and life challenges at our Meets, our "core" Meets are opportunities for members to discuss such matters overtly. Our social Meets are opportunities to build connections, enjoy each other’s company, engage in conversation and have fun.

From LDAP, you can expect to be treated with kindness, compassion, and dignity and what you share will be kept confidential**. Our Meets will be engaging and safe.

We expect members to treat hosts and fellow members with respect and kindness. We have zero tolerance for verbal abuse, outbursts, aggression, threatening and violent behaviour. We ask that all members decide if they are well enough and can participate in a Meetup before they RSVP.

Crisis Support:

LDAP does not offer crisis support. Our focus is on prevention, self-management and living well.  If you are in a crisis or need to speak with a mental health professional urgently, please get in touch with your GP and or any mental health professional involved in your care. The following organisations may also help in your time of crisis:

LDAP Meets:

LDAP endeavours to host meeting opportunities that are either free and/or budget friendly. Some of our events require prior booking and planning with venues directly. Our hosts spend time making arrangements so that Meetups run smoothly. As a token of appreciation and recognition that members value the time hosts spend making arrangements, please kindly change your RSVP as soon as you know that you will no longer be able to attend. This is particularly important for those Meetups that require booking venues, and maintaining a good relationship and reputation with establishments. Consequently, LDAP operates a three-strike rule. Members who do not change their RSVP for three consecutive Meetups, within a six-month window, will be removed (at LDAP team’s discretion).

LDAP have a zero tolerance to members that do not RSVP and just turn up to Meets. Such members will not be permitted and appropriate action taken.

Disclaimer:

We endeavour to host Meetups in safe venues. However, by attending events, you agree that your personal belongings and personal safety - personal information you disclose to others - are your own responsibility.
By attending events, you agree that the event host is not responsible or liable for the safety of any member or any member’s guests. By attending events, you accept our policy.

Engage and get involved.

We look forward to meeting you!
