The Des Plaines Public Library Hosts a wide range of events from book clubs to film screenings and discussion, trivia and game nights. Some events are in person and some are online via zoom. Join us for fun and enrichment!

It's a beautiful day in Newport, Rhode Island, when Phoebe Stone arrives at the Cornwall Inn. She's immediately mistaken by everyone in the lobby for one of the wedding people, but she's actually the only guest who isn't here for the big event.
Copies of these books are available at the Readers Services desk on the 3rd floor of the library. Registration required. The book club will meet in the Commons on the third floor of the Des Plaines Public Library @ 10:00am on January 13th.

Maine, 1789: When the Kennebec River freezes, entombing a man in the ice, Martha Ballard is summoned to examine the body and determine cause of death. As a midwife and healer, she is privy to much of what goes on behind closed doors in Hallowell. Her diary is a record of every birth and death, crime and debacle that unfolds in the close-knit community.
