Adam Crain: WebAssembly (WASM) Outside of the Browser

WebAssembly (WASM) started as a way to complement JavaScript in the browser—giving developers the ability to run high-performance code (often compiled from languages like C, C++, or Rust) efficiently and securely. While running Doom in the browser was once the quintessential demo, today WASM is powering serious workloads outside the browser thanks to its fast startup, security guarantees, and portability.

In this talk, Adam will demystify WebAssembly, what it is and why it's gaining traction across ecosystems. He'll also decode the jargon associated and showcase real world usage of WASM plugins at Battalion Energy.

Adam Crain is the CTO and co-founder of Battalion Energy, where he leads development of a high-performance site controller and energy management system (EMS) built with Rust and WebAssembly.
