Since its introduction by Anthropic last November, Model Context Protocol (MCP) has gained rapid traction for AI assistant tool-calling. MCP servers are popping up everywhere, connecting web services, data pipelines, and database integrations to Large Language Models (LLMs). We'll talk about MCP at a high level, and why it's become such a compelling standard for AI tools before jumping into a hands-on demo: Spinning up an MCP server connected to a database, and using natural language prompts to manipulate data.
