What: Building a Browser-Grade SVG Rendering Engine from Scratch

What does it take to build a production-quality SVG engine in C++ — one that handles untrusted input, supports the full browser API surface, and targets the same level of spec compliance as Chrome or Firefox? In this talk, Jeff walks through over a decade of building Donner, an open-source embeddable C++ SVG engine, covering the architecture decisions, security hardening, and — perhaps most interestingly — the suite of developer tools he built along the way to make the whole thing possible.

About the speaker:
Jeff is a Staff+ Software Engineer at Meta working on computer vision and graphics pipelines for AR products, with a career spanning game development, platform engineering, and graphics/media systems. He has shipped code across the stack - from Nintendo DS games to OS APIs to firmware. Outside of his day job, he has spent over a decade building Donner, an open-source browser-grade SVG engine in C++.
