Balanced Rock Reset: Bring Your Pup
Details
Granite Mountain Trailhead
There’s something powerful about walking toward a formation that has stood steady for centuries.
This Desert Reset hike takes us to Balanced Rock at Granite Mountain — a 4.7-mile out-and-back trail that blends steady movement, open desert views, and just enough challenge to build confidence along the way.
We’ll begin at Granite Mountain Trailhead, taking Bootlegger and Saddlehorn to connect with the Granite Mountain Loop before branching toward Balanced Rock for a short, rocky climb at the end. The trail is mostly crushed granite and packed dirt with scattered stones, winding past granite boulders, saguaro fields, and palo verde. Wildflowers may appear along the open flats, depending on the season.
This hike is about steady progress and supportive community — not pace or performance. We’ll move at a conversational speed, regroup as needed, and pause at Balanced Rock before heading back.
