Details
Dear innovators,
We're happy to announce that our third Design and engineering meetup (FREE EVENT) will take place on the romantic 14th of February. We are invited at Ghent University, campus KORTRIJK. (check out the photos for more information about free parking etc...)
Talks will start at 7.30 pm. Before and after the talks there will be room for some networking.
Drinks are available at democratic prizes to sponsor the study trip to China of the final year students.
SPEAKERS:
Manuel Kretzer (Germany)
Kretzer (founding partner of responsive design) is currently visiting professor at the Braunschweig University of Art, leading and teaching the subject ‘Digital Crafting’ as part of the newly founded course ‘Design in a Digital Society.’ His research aims at the notion of a soft and dynamic architecture with a specific focus on new (smart) material performance. He is the initiator of the materiability research network, a free educational community platform that attempts to connect architects, designers and artists and provides access to cutting edge new material developments.
Kretzer will show you his vision in advanced production techniques and smart/new materials. During his research he is constantly looking for the limits of production techniques and materials and he will demonstrate this with cases that he worked on with his studio or with his students.

Matthieu Libeert (Belgium)
Libeert is a young entrepreneur and a world authority in the design and making of carbon prototypes and products. Almost 5 years ago, he started to make video tutorials on how to make products and moulds out of glass fiber, carbon and all kinds off composite materials. Now his YouTube channel has more than 4 million views and almost 35 000 subscribers.
The YouTube Channel started to grow and he got more and more business proposals. He got noticed by a few companies asking him to make parts and products for them. He had big customers like Lenovo, but also the collector who wanted a special/unique carbon part for his Porsche.
Libeert will talk about the future of carbon and other composite materials. The challenges in his field and how he thinks these materials can contribute to the world of tomorrow. Hands on as he is, he will show you these challenges with cases he worked on or is working on.
