Not a Guinea Pig: Building Trust in User Interviews Through Research Ethics
Details
When it comes to human-centered design, understanding human factors is not enough. We must also consider the impact of our research on the people who give us insights. Rather than treating them like guinea pigs, applying human-centered design principles can put our research participants at ease.
In January's meetup, UX designer and researcher Kelly Tsao will discuss guidelines for building participant trust. She’ll share the essential parts of a research-ethics script, how to break down common misunderstandings about research, and provide attendees with a chance to practice the intangible aspects of user research, such as tone and body language.
By attending this meetup, you’ll have an overview of research ethics in practice, and some hands-on experience with addressing common worries of research participants.
