Design Thinking: Building Cities with Character

Last month, we explored the East Riverfront Initiative and examined how design thinking can help shape the future of Richmond’s waterfront in ways that truly center community voice and local character.

Guided by our facilitator, Alexander Whiteway, M.S. of MODERN ANCIENTS, we were introduced to thoughtful frameworks and field-study tools that helped us better understand the site, ask more meaningful questions, and reflect on what it means to be active participants in city-making rather than passive observers of change.

This month, we’ll continue into Phase 2 of the workshop, building on those insights and deepening the conversation around what it looks like to create cities with character together.
