What we're about
Upcoming events (1)
Hi all, thank you for your patience as we planned this first event after taking the reigns on this incredible group. By further way of background, I ran the guest lecture series at Skidmore Owings and Merrill for 3 years during my 6 year tenure. We had amazing, notable guests; but my favorite part was that as host, I had the honor of taking our guests to a thank you dinner following each lecture, and to me, this was always more interesting and rewarding than the lecture itself. So while we'll certainly host a variety of events, the main theme will be that of a living room conversation, where we can share open conversation and have direct access to guest speakers. In an effort to maximize the impact and quality of events, we're partnering with Kin Events which I highly recommend to anyone looking to host a social gathering; holiday parties, events, meetings, lectures. We will be hostong ticketed events to cover the event costs; our goal is to host amazing informative events, with like minded thinkers, in great venues, for less than you would spend on any given night out. So please, join us for this first event. Attendance is by ticketed access only, through this meetup event, or eventbrite: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/la-design-architecture-round-table-sustainability-tickets-72166835949 LA Design + Architecture Round Table: David Hertz on Sustainability Come and connect with like-minded Architect and design industry professionals at our first of many round table series. Our first gathering will focus on Architecture and Sustainability and to kick off the series, we will have a round table discussion facilitated by David Hertz of Studio of Environmental Architecture. David has been working at the edge of sustainability and the forefront of regenerative architecture for over 35 years. As a systems thinker, he engages a variety of fields through design and believes in expanding the conceptual limits of architecture. Throughout his career, David has connected the art of building with responsible stewardship of the Earth. A LEED accredited professional, he serves on the board of Heal The Bay and is a member of the City of Santa Monica’s Task Force on the Environment. A lifelong passion for surfing has made David keenly active in issues regarding water quality and access. He and his wife Laura founded Skysource to develop and distribute atmospheric water generation technology, and their efforts culminated in winning the Water Abundance XPRIZE. Since then, they have focused on making communities more resilient through better design, planning, and products.
