GoodMeasure & Ueno bring together design + nonprofits

Details

Designers + Geeks is helping out with an event by Good Measure and Ueno. In this weekend event, designers will be matched up with a client nonprofit that needs your help!

Free registration is here:

The details from the event site are copied here:

Design people, art director people, writer-type people, strategy people, motion design people, video and editing people, animation people, website people, cheerful people, people who want to do good in the world, and people who can say funny things in stressful situations (like maybe during a colonoscopy). We need those types of people.

What's Good Measure?

Good Measure connects people with opportunities to do good. Each local event launches new nonprofits or revitalizes old ones, bringing creative professionals together from all over their city to collaborate. And we do it all in less than 72 hours. So, like, really fast.

What's the schedule?

We'll kick things off on Friday night—gathering at Ueno in Soho to chat through the project, meet the team leaders (design, web, video, strategy), and run through a workshop or two with the project founders. That night, we'll spend time planning, storyboarding, moodboarding and asking all the questions you could possibly think of.

Saturday, we'll hit the ground running. By the end of the day, the website's structure will be defined, the copy written, and the plan for launch settled on. We'll have presented and settled on a visual identity direction, and completed all video production.

Sunday, we build as needed: business cards, pitch decks, assets for web and video, etc. By the end of the day, we've launched the site, organized everything we've created, and put the finishing touches on the video.

Who's the client nonprofit?

We'll be launching a cause-based project with EMMY award-winning filmmakers Alan Spearman and Mark Adams, and former White House photographer to the First Lady Amanda Lucidon. They have a dream to create beautiful, high quality content, and use it to (1) provide needed commentary on important social issues, and (2) create curriculum to drive conversation and mindfulness with students in juvenile detention centers across the nation.

If we have enough interest, we'll work with ANOTHER nonprofit in the same 72 hours. Holy shit, we're ambitious.

Where can I find more information / contact the organizer?

We'll be announcing new partners, new information and new, exciting things as we go — make sure to follow Good Measure online or sign up for our newsletter so you stay informed. If you have any questions, or if you're the chatty type, feel free to reach out to findgoodmeasure@gmail.com.
