Visualise your data with Gapminder: workshop and fika

Hi and welcome to Gapminder data workshop!

Your task as a participant would be to insert your own data into our bubble chart application (available for mac, windows, linux). You can either make a clean chart with only your data or add your data into the chart we already have to combine it with our database. Another (optional) task would be to integrate the resulting picture in your website or blog.

This is a rehearsal of a bigger workshop i'm going to do at UN World Data Forum in January, also a user-testing session of our software.

You don't need any programming or web-design knowledge to participate, but you will need to use MS Excel or Google Docs or similar.

And you need to do a homework before coming:

1. Go to http://www.gapminder.org/tools/ and play with the online version of the bubble chart. Discover the features.
2. Find some data that you think would look good if visualised using the same tool. This doesn't have to be data about countries, health or economy, like we have it. But the data has to be in a spreadsheet. Like, not a pdf or a word document =)

A simple fika is provided. If the software will break and we won't be able to do anything we will just have fika and some round table discussions at the kitchen :D
