Current business & design practices optimize for profit and fail to consider the larger cumulative impact of these activities over time, which inevitably lead to catastrophic collapse of systems, like the opioid & obesity epidemics, global political & financial instability, and climate & ecological breakdown. We live in this world optimized for profit and growth, and not in reality for each of us.

Masamichi Souzou (正道想像), meaning "Correct Path, Imagined/Created" in Japanese, is an organization that is seeking to know what the world would look like if we optimize everything, not for profit or growth, but for happiness. This talk will share the theory behind the approach and explore what designing optimized happiness (while considering everything) looks like for each of us as individuals.

This will be the start of a series of talks over the course of the year where we explore various aspects of the design of our lives, and how various adjustments can be made to help optimize for happiness.
