Talk one: The challenge of building products for Gen-Z

Do you remember when you were 10 years old, playing Fortnite on your smartphone? No? Me neither!
Gen-Z (people born after 1996) are not like you and me. They are using screens on the school playground, while you and I were playing with marbles and skipping ropes. Building products for a generation born with technology at their fingertips is both a blessing and a curse. A curse, because it’s tough to understand what’s going on in their heads. A blessing, because you know that “you are not your user” and you can’t use your childhood as a reference point. The only way to understand them? Proper research.

Loren will share the challenges the Flair team has faced when trying to understand and delight a Gen-Z audience, and the solutions they’ve found along the way.

Speaker: Loren Godefroy

Loren in numbers: 10+ years as a Graphic Designer, 8 years as an entrepreneur (Industrial design), 2 years in UX/UI design, 1 year at Flair Football, on a mission to create a visually delightful, user-friendly experience for young football players on the app.

Talk two: Injecting some lean into legacy led organisations.

Let’s explore a simpler way to tackle meaty design problems. Why “just do it, just test it” is a good strategy for complex legacy problems in organisations...

Speaker: Zoe Guiraudon

Zoe is currently a Senior UX designer at Foolproof and a UX instructor at General Assembly. Her passion for the design process and the education part of UX helps her to inject collaborative and user-centred design thinking into big organisations like ITV, the BBC or Adobe.

Perhaps you’re looking for feedback, partnership or advice on a project you’re working on or simply have a question. Well, this is your moment to shine! You can ask the group and further the conversations in the social after.
