Gothic Marvels & Cobbled Streets: A Day Trip to Historic Lincoln!

The Vibe
We’ll spend the day exploring the "Uphill" historic quarter. We can split our time between the Cathedral’s stunning architecture and the Castle’s 360-degree wall walk. In between, we’ll wander through the Bailgate for some independent shopping and grab lunch at a local pub or cafe.

📅 Itinerary & Plan
• 08:30 AM: Start from Leeds. 🚗

• 10:00 AM – 10:30 AM: Park, meet and greet, and start walking toward the Uphill area.

• 11:30 AM: Explore Lincoln Cathedral (look out for the Lincoln Imp! 😈). Approx. entry fee: £13.

• 01:00 PM: Grab some lunch nearby in the historic quarter. 🍔

• 02:30 PM: Lincoln Castle & the Medieval Wall Walk for the best views in the county. Approx. entry fee: £12–£13.

• 04:00 PM: Coffee, drinks, and shopping as we start “The Descent" down Steep Hill to browse the vintage shops.

⚠️ The "Steep Hill" Warning
As the name suggests, Steep Hill is... well, steep! 😅 It’s of course not a mountain hike, but the old quarter is situated uphill. Expect a 25–30 minute walk on an incline at a slow pace (factoring in how many times we stop to look at the window displays!). Comfortable shoes are highly recommended! 👟

What to bring:
• Comfortable walking shoes (essential!) 👟
• A camera/phone for photos 📸
• A light jacket (the castle walls can get breezy!) 💨

🚗 Logistics & Meeting Point
• Meeting Point: We will meet opposite the famous Stokes Coffee houses (800+ year old Timber house on one of the oldest medieval bridge in England) on High bridge.

• Parking: We’ll aim for NCP Lincoln Brayford Street (LN5 7BJ). It’s in the heart of the city centre, making it a perfect base.

• Note: Both parking and the meeting point are just around the corner from the Lincoln Train Station for those coming by rail! 🚂

Logistics: You are responsible for making your own arrangements to reach the meeting point.

• Carpooling: I know some of us drive, so we can carpool to save on fuel and parking. If you can offer a lift or need one, please post in the comments below to coordinate with others! 🚗💨 It is up to each individual to be proactive, communicate in the comments, and secure a spot for themselves.
