A fun-filled weekend of music-making & drumming, drumming workshops, yoga, and other outdoor fun with drummers from the Detroit area and beyond at a beautiful private retreat center in nearby Manchester, MI (just an hour west of Detroit).

Co-hosted by Ascension Drum Circle & Detroit Community of Drummers

***With ***

  • Sundance DiDomenico, Tree of Life Studio
  • Paul Militello, RhythmFamily
  • Alex Wedmedyk, Earth Rhythm Drummers
  • Dave Stycos & Michael Hubbard

FLEXIBLE ATTENDANCE: If only Friday evening or Saturday work for your schedule, that’s fine.

Accommodations/lodgings:

  • With a limit of 25 people for overnight accommodations, register early to be sure of sleeping space. (These spaces will go to full weekend guests first.)

The center is on 40 bucolic acres with a small lake adjacent to a 100-acre nature preserve. There's a community building with a full kitchen and dining area, as well as a large outdoor tent and outdoor pizza oven we plan to use on Friday evening!

  • It is mostly off-grid. There is a flush toilet and indoor shower in the main building and two compost toilets and solar showers nearer the camping, cabin, and main gathering area.
  • There's a large flat parking area near most activities, so accessibility shouldn't be a problem.
  • Tenting: Abundant space for camping.
  • Five cute cottages with single & double beds will sleep 2-4 people. Modest extra fee for these.

To learn more about the venue:[ www.earthwellretreat.com](http://www.earthwellretreat.com). For additional questions about the facilities, please direct them to the Drum Camp organizers and not the center managers.

Meals Included:

  • Simple vegetarian meals with some vegan options.
  • For special dietary needs and favorite snacks, bring these in your own coolers.

Fees:

This event is organized and run by volunteers. We have tried to keep rates affordable for most while covering our basic costs. Any extra funds raised will go to modest stipends for workshop leaders and the scholarship fund.

  • Some partial scholarships are available. Those requesting scholarships are still asked to contribute what they are able to.
  • There will be no work-exchanges.
  • Full weekend guests are asked to pitch in two (2) ~one-hour shifts, and Saturday guests one shift, helping with meal prep, cleanup, fire tending, or other simple tasks. “Many hands make light work.”
  • ENTIRE WEEKEND (Friday 5 p.m. until the closing circle Sunday afternoon 1 p.m.) includes food, tenting space, and workshops:

Final Registration ends Friday, 9/15: $140 Per person

OR

  • FRIDAY EVENING ONLY (includes dinner, social time, and opening Equinox ceremony, music & drum circle): Final Registration by 9/15: $45

OR

  • SATURDAY, All Day (includes lunch, dinner, drumming workshops, and evening music & drum circle): Final Registration by 9/15: $65
  • Cancellations & Refunds:
  • The deadline for a full refund is on 9/8.
  • After 9/8, if you must cancel, please contact us.

OR

SUNDAY, 9/24: lunch, workshops, closing ceremony & drum jam: Final Registration by 9/15: $40

Additional Notes:

  • For those without drums, there will be extra percussion instruments including shakers, rattles, etc.
  • *Full weekend schedule, including workshops and presenters, will be provided in early September.
  • Ride-sharing: If you need a ride or can offer one, note that in the registration form. We will attempt to help, but cannot guarantee ride-share matches.
  • Children: We love children but cannot provide childcare. Parents must supervise their children at all times, especially around the fire circle and pond. If would be best to bring your child/children just for day-time activities.
  • Pets: We love them, too, but they may add many complications with barking and interactions with other four-legged animals. Please leave them home.
  • If you have service dog papers and can’t attend without your companion, let us know in advance. Animals must be calm, well-behaved, and not disturb others trying to sleep.
