The Android Accessory Development Kit by Terry May

The Android Accessory Development Kit (ADK) is a reference implementation for hardware manufacturers and hobbyists to use as a starting point for building accessories for Android. Each ADK release is provided with source code and hardware specifications to make the process of developing your own accessories easier. Google encourages the use of the ADK to create new and alternative hardware for Android.

Android accessories such as audio docking stations, exercise machines and medical equipment are some of the devices that can interface with Android devices using the ADK.

In this talk, Terry May will discuss the ADK and how he has used it in some of his projects as well as demonstrate how to use the the 2011 and 2012 versions of the ADK. Terry has recently been exploring how best to interface Android with the real world via the Android ADK or the Newer android.hardware.usb package. This is a unique opportunity to see demos of the Accessory Development kits from 2011/12 and the "usb-serial-for-android" library.
