What we’re about
This group is for (all) people over 50 who desire to get off the couch and offline to meet people and participate in activities and events that one might not want to attend alone.
We'll plan events and meet-ups for both working and retired people who live in Detroit. Most events will be in Detroit. Metro folks welcome. Meet-ups can include: lectures, theater events, live music, community events, day trips, etc.
If you have an idea for a meet-up, lets us know!
You must have a picture of you that is not blurry or far away to join the group. The whole point of joining meet-up is to meet other people and when meeting in person it helps to have a face to the name of people you're meeting.
If you are considering joining this group, please be aware that there is a $10/year fee, due after a trial.
It covers costs of organizer fee, venue rentals, supplies, or refreshments. There is also proven evidence that if you are paying a fee there is more accountability to actually participate.

See all- Calling all Fiber Artists-Common ThreadsDetroit Institute of Arts, Detroit, MI
Come and join me in enjoying some time at the Detroit Institute of Arts -(DIA )among other fiber artists. This listing below seems to focus on knitting, crocheting, and embroidery, but I’d like to encourage all of you that practice other forms of fiber work like felting, macrame, or latch hook. I’d also encourage anyone who is interested in learning more about a particular style of fiber work to come.
"Common Threads is a museum art-making experience that brings together fiber artists from the tri-county area to explore creativity and mindfulness as a community. Whether you're into crochet, knitting, or embroidery, this event offers a chance to connect with fellow makers while working on your craft.
The experience begins with a guided tour of the special exhibition Painted with Silk, led by museum studio staff. Afterward, participants will have the opportunity to work on their own fiber projects in the serene Crystal Gallery, located above the Detroit Film Theatre.
Please bring your ongoing projects along with any necessary tools, such as hooks and needles. Materials will not be provided." DIAPlease note that this event is free to residents of Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb Counties, but requires registration. THERE IS SEPARATE REGISTRATION THROUGH DIA:
