Find yourself amongst community and the scenic, seclusion of nature at an Awe-inspiring Temple in Manchester, MI for a full day of Ecstatic Dance, Meditation, Reflection, Creativity, Hiking, and Connection with yourself and others.
🦋🌈♥️ What is Ecstatic Dance? It is a free form dance movement, sometimes called conscious clubbing, that focuses on being true to the self, and self expression. We provide an opening and closing circle to create a Consent based, Substance, Alcohol and Judgement free community to Dance it out, move freely, and let the music be your intoxicant. This is a space to learn to be true to yourself and your needs. If you want to be still and meditate, do yoga, dance, be a curious observer and take it all in, or anything else… most anything is possible at our events, with consent.
🌱This day retreat will be led by Licensed Mental Health Therapist and Detroit /Ann Arbor Ecstatic Dance founder, Charity Loring LMSW, along with other facilitators.
🌲LIMITED to 20 people for space and comfort. You must pay in advance. $50-$80 sliding scale based on need and honor system.

♥️ You are always at choice and are welcome to come and go as you please. Participate as much or as little as you like, or take breaks when you need them. Our goal is to create safety within the self, safety within the community, and to do this one must be true to themselves and their needs in each moment.
Schedule-
11 am- Arrive, tour the Temple, get settled in.
11:30- Guided Connection with Self, Group Connection and Intention setting to carry into the day and possibly the New Year.
12 noon - 1 hr Afternoon Ecstatic Dance- Slow Flow music set- Beginning portion will be an optional guided embodiment practice, that flows into a self guided movement/dance practice. No steps to learn, No way to do it wrong. No rhythm? No problem!We are inclusive of everyone. followed by 1/2 hr closing circle for community to share experiences and revisit intentions.
1:00- Get to know yourself and/or fellow community members via Free time from 1 pm - 4:30 pm using any of the following options:
1:00-3:00pm- BYO Non-alcoholic drinks, Lunch and snacks (cooking facilities and microwave not provided) and eat while participating in Authentic Relating/ Connection Games, alongside Creating and Crafting. Some limited Art supplies, paper and canvases provided. Or, bring your own project.
Hiking- Anytime, self guided, maps provided.
The land we will be on has many hiking trails that lead to the river.
Meditation and Reflection- Anytime, self guided. If you need a break to be alone with your own thoughts, or just need rest, bring your own blankets, yoga mat or anything else that would bring you comfort. Find a quiet space amongst the many peaceful rooms in the temple.
4:30- Sunset Ecstatic Dance.
We will begin with opening circle to reconnect with ourselves and community. We will then dance into the sunset surrounded by Windows overlooking the serene and scenic sunset in nature.
Beginning portion will be an optional guided embodiment practice, that flows into a self guided movement/dance practice. No steps to learn, No way to do it wrong. No rhythm? No problem! We are inclusive of everyone.
We will end, as we always do, with a closing circle to share experiences within community and to revisit initial intentions set earlier in the day, to explore our inner experiences, and if we want to move those intentions, or new discoveries we’ve made, forward into the New Year.
7:30 pm- Wrap up and go home.

🚗 Parking- Parking is somewhat limited, so we encourage carpooling. If people are open to volunteering seats in their car to carpool from any area, post in the comments, or, if someone would like to volunteer to create a Google sheet and maintain it for carpooling, that would be most welcome.
