What is Ecstatic Dance?
🌱Conscious Clubbing! SOBER ZONE!
Some say that Ecstatic dance is of the best trips they've had! Some find it cathartic, therapeutic, or just a lot of fun in a sober, consent based and supportive environment.
We provide a night club-like space with immersive lighting, a live DJ, an opening and closing circle to create a consent-based, substance, alcohol, and judgement-free community to dance it out, move freely, and let the music be your intoxicant. This is a space to learn to be true to yourself and your needs. If you want to be still and meditate, do yoga, dance, be a curious observer and take it all in, or anything else, you are welcome to do so!
Who will be leading us?
🌱Charity Loring, LMSW
Charity is a Licensed Mental Health Therapist and Movement Therapist who has a passion for helping people create connection within themselves by offering opportunities to create self trust, and create trusting connections with others, in a supportive, empowering group space.
Music Played:
🌱Live DJ!
DJ Ekanti of Vibe UPP Michigan
Take in DJ Ekanti's mesmerizing music, and let it wash over you, as Charity Loring, LMSW, facilitates a warm, welcoming and supportive environment to fully feel, express yourself, move and be moved.

Movement & Safety Guidelines:
🌱Suspend Judgment: Judgment can be helpful and unhelpful. When it's unhelpful, it can lead to disconnection from the self and others. Embrace curiosity and discernment to fully experience emotions and physical sensations.
🌱Freedom to Move: Move however you wish—there is no right or wrong way. You can also choose not to move. Listen to your body.
🌱 No Devices: Keep phones and devices off. Be present for yourself.
🌱 Sobriety: Attend sober—no alcohol, drugs, or vaping. Let the music intoxicate you. This fosters a safe, consensual environment.
🌱 Non-Conversational: Express yourself physically on the dance floor. For conversations, step into the lobby. Singing and emotional expression are welcome.
🌱 Consent-Based Interaction: To dance with someone, make eye contact and indicate clearly. If you decline or wish to end, signal with Namaste hands.
🌱 No Photos/Videos
🌱 Fragrance-Free: Avoid heavy perfumes or scents; some individuals may have severe allergies, and the scent of marijuana can be triggering.
Cost:
🌱We are offering a subsidized rate of $10 (usually $25-$40) per person for this event! Payments can be made via Venmo or Zelle to @emilyberriman (email: eberriman@mi.rr.com) by Thursday, 10/17. This will be considered your RSVP. Please, let me know if cost is an issue and we will work to make this event accessible for you.
SAPS is so thrilled to be hosting an event like this; this will be our first dance or rave-type event ever! Please feel free to email me with any questions or concerns. Can't wait to see you there. :)
Warmly,
Emily
