DevSecRuhr 1st meetup 2025
Details
Hello folks,
2025 started and no DevSecRuhr yet? That needs to change.
We will meet for the first time in 2025 on April 15 at 6 pm at RuhrTechKampus Essen (K5 building, ground floor), the new Essen office of E.ON Digital Technology, which will provide us with food and drinks in addition to the beautiful premises - thank you very much for that.
Please be on time, we have three presentations and a tight schedule.
--- Agenda for the evening ---
Talk 1: "Open Source SIEM with OpenSearch and Honeypot in Action"
In today's evolving cybersecurity landscape, organizations need effective and affordable solutions to detect and respond to threats in real time. This talk explores how OpenSearch, an open-source alternative to traditional SIEM solutions, can be leveraged for security monitoring and threat detection.
We'll dive into the power of honeypots as a proactive defense mechanism, demonstrating how they capture real-world attack data and feed it into OpenSearch for analysis. Through a hands-on approach, you'll see how to set up a honeypot, integrate it with OpenSearch, and visualize attack patterns in real time.
About Jens:
Jens is Found & CTO from Fivesec (https://fivesec.de/), specialized in cybersecurity, secure software engineering and infrastructure.
Talk 2: "ISO, NIS2, NIST and Co."
In this talk, we’ll map out the international norms and standards in cybersecurity and provide an overview of who is actually requiring what. How do industry-specific and country-specific standards fit in, and what else is happening on the periphery?
About Ben:
Ben Becks has been supporting companies in setting up information security management systems (ISMS) for almost 7 years. After working in and with large companies, he has been focusing since 2024 on breaking down the complex subject area in an understandable way for small and public-interest companies and providing easy access to IT security.
