What is Coderetreat?
Code retreats are free day-long, intensive practice events, focusing on the fundamentals of software development and design. By providing developers the opportunity to take part in focused practice, away from the pressures of "getting things done", the code retreat format has proven itself to be a highly effective means of learning and nurturing software development skills.

You will learn to:

• Pair programming
• Build a better understanding of how to write clean, simple, and flexible programs that minimize the cost of change over time
• Experience Test Driven Development in practice
• Learn how to write better code and what it means to write good code

Based on the following 4 principles of writing simple code:

• Passes all tests
• Clear, Expressive, and consistent
• Say everything once and only once
• Minimal methods, classes and modules

Prerequisites

• Basic programming and coding
• IDE setup with your favorite programming language

Schedule of the day
9:30 AM to 10 AM - Welcome and introduction
10 AM to 1 PM - Code pairing
1 PM to 2 PM - Lunch
2 PM to 5 PM - Code paring
5 PM to 6 PM - Final Retrospective

About the speaker:
Rajani has spent over 15 years as a software professional, working with two startups and companies like Citrix and JPMC. She is currently a Solution Consultant at [Sahaj.ai](http://sahaj.ai/). Throughout her career, she has contributed to various products, including a Facebook app that scaled to millions of users, an IAAS platform for setting up private clouds that many major Telecom providers use, and a data pipeline capable of processing 10TB of data daily.

She is passionate about open source and is a committer and member of the Project Management Committee (PMC) at Apache CloudStack. She is currently working with a major car manufacturer to develop its API metering platform
