Hack, Hack, Hacktoberfest!! (Day 1)

Details

Hacktoberfest encourages developers to participate and work on the open-source (FOSS) in the month of October. This is the avenue wherein devs can pick and choose the open-source they want to contribute to on GitHub and submit PR’s that would affect the open-source project in a meaningful way. It could be as simple as authoring a README file on the open-source projects that one used earlier and struggled while working with it. This can be considered the time where one takes time and gives back something meaningful to the Open Source community. Additional information on the details of what is the Hacktoberfest Challenge can be got from https://hacktoberfest.digitalocean.com/

An initial list of what we will be working on?

We are composing a list of open source projects that we intend to share. This list is foundationally based on our personal/professional interests and the impact it would have on the open-source community at large. Please feel free to add/indicate other projects in the open-source arena that we all as a community could contribute to. We can then start to organize ourselves into smaller groups (or pairs) organically based on where individuals would like to contribute.

We will keep this space updated with the list of projects that we want to contribute to.

What’s in it for all of us attending?

We will be organizing a couple of technical talks during the Hacktoberfest as an extension to our DevDay. Our offices are open for everyone interested in tech during the above two days and while everyone is working on their favorite open source stack, we will also be providing lunch, snacks and goodies for all those who will be joining us.

First, sign up on the Hacktoberfest site at https://hacktoberfest.digitalocean.com. To qualify for the official limited edition Hacktoberfest shirt, you must register and make four pull requests between October 1-31. Pull requests can be to any public repo on GitHub, not just the ones with issues labeled Hacktoberfest. If a maintainer reports your pull request as spam or behavior not in line with the project’s code of conduct, you will be ineligible to participate.

Completing your first PR during either day of this event gets you an extra t-shirt! Sitckers and other goodies are available for everyone who attends DevDay
