3:15 PM: Speaker Anmol Agarwal: What Breaks When Autonomous Agents Operate With Real Permissions in Production

Giving an agent access to a calendar, a database, or a payment system feels fine in a demo. It gets much scarier once that agent is autonomous, long-running, and making decisions without a human in the loop for every step.

This talk is a candid look at what actually breaks: over-scoped permissions, agents that “helpfully” chain actions no one authorized, audit trails that don’t capture intent, and the gap between what an agent is allowed to do and what it should do in a given context.

We’ll walk through real failure modes and the guardrails (least-privilege design, human-in-the-loop checkpoints, action-level logging, kill switches) that separate a resilient production agent from a liability waiting to happen.

3:45 PM: Speaker Dorothy Akoth: Engineering Trustworthy AI Applications with Gemini

Building an AI prototype has never been easier but deploying AI responsibly requires more than connecting to a large language model.

In this session, we'll build a full-stack AI application using React, Django REST Framework and Google Gemini, while exploring the engineering practices that make AI systems trustworthy.

We'll learn how to securely integrate Gemini, validate user input, apply prompt engineering, implement AI guardrails, log interactions, and discuss how the same application can later be deployed to production.

By the end of the session, attendees will have a working application and a practical blueprint for building reliable AI-powered software.
