PVC Armsmithing and Cookout

PVC Launchers!

Come visit Baltimore Hackerspace on Saturday, May 2nd, from 10:30am until 2:30pm-ish for an introduction to the world of PVC launchers! We will start with a half-hour presentation on the physics, chemistry, and math behind various PVC launchers, and then you will have an opportunity build them, including instruction by Hackerspace volunteers and training on various tools around the shop and their safety requirements. Finally, test your launchers while we grill lunch (and just maybe break out our other geeky toys). Bring your friends, bring your kids, and lets have a blast.

We will be ordering supplies before hand, so if you are interested fill out the appropriate fields on the RSVP questionnaire. We'd appreciate if you could prepay via paypal (sales@harfordhackerspace­.org), but cash during the event is fine too. Thanks!

Projects:
Marshmallow Blowgun ($5.00 kit)

50# Longbow ($20 kit, plus $2/golfball-arrow)
----This is probably my personal favorite, my brothers and I have played hundreds of games of archery-golf around the local park, I recommend you get two!

Rocket Launcher ($35 kit)
---an air compressor feeds an electrically-actuated launcher allowing anyone to launch paper rockets up to 60' in the air. Or, build your own rockets and launch them from our launcher!

Grape Gun ($30 kit)
---an air compressor feeds this manually-actuated rig, allowing you to propel grapes or baby carrots out of sight!
---Let us know if you want a 1" barrel, a 3/4" barrel, or both! (+$5)

And the classic Potato Cannon($50 kit)
--- Harness combustion to launch potatoes at up to 300mph!
--- Note: Launch site considerations limit us to 100mph, but we'll teach you how to get that extra speed.
