Title: The best team that I've ever been on
A brief primer on the things that, in my experience, make teams work well.
Facilitator: Riaan Nel
I first started punching code into a computer somewhere in my early teens. I thought it was fun, so I ended up making a career out of it - since then, I've spent about nine years in the industry, mainly doing Java development. I started out in a small company where we built our own ERP system from the ground, spent four years there, and then moved into the financial sector where I've been ever since. Somewhere along the way, I also completed a bachelor's degree in Business IT. Nowadays, I find myself in the data warehousing and BI world, working on a really awesome team (that also happens to be one of the only teams that I've come across to use mob programming). I'm passionate about business, software, culture, and the things that make teams/people tick.

Title: Contributing to open source is easier than you think
Rouan is not a prolific open source contributor by any stretch of the imagination, but over the years he's learned how to contribute some useful bits and pieces. He'll tell you why he contributes to open source. He'll show you his first contributions and a few simple techniques for contributing to open source projects. Expect lots of code snippets. Along the way, he'll share some principles that he has learned. Maybe they'll help you as you try it out for yourself.
Facilitator:Rouan Wilsenach
Rouan Wilsenach is a software developer. He has built applications in a variety of technology stacks for companies in the financial services, education, health and media sectors. He’s worked as a consultant and coach, helping teams learn good engineering practices and helping businesses transform the way they build software. He now works remotely for Tes (http://engineering.tes.com/) , where he builds full-stack JavaScript microservices to help teachers and schools.
